Shoplifting

Crawford was caught shoplifting by a store detective. The police were called, and he was arrested. When his parents came to bail him out of jail, they asked him why he did it. Crawford responded that he had applied for a summer job at the store, but he wasn't hired. He thought he was treated unfairly, and this justified the shoplifting.

What do you think of Crawford's justification? (5 sentences)

  1. I don't believe Crawford made the right decision. He definitely could have handle that with a better approach. Stealing is unethical. He should have to face punishment for his crime. He should have just applied again.

  2. I think his justification isn't good enough. Just because a store didn't hire you does not give you the right to break the law. If he was treated unfairly, he should've taken legitimate actions against them. I don't agree with his decision. Stealing is bad.

  3. I don't think that he was treated unfair. Maybe someone had a better application than he did. If he had resources on his application and they placed called them and they didn't talk good about him that could be another reason he didn't get the job. He could have a bad background check. Shoplifting isn't something that you should do just because you didn't get the job at a place.

  4. I don't believe that his shoplifting was justified. The store owners can't hire everyone that applies. just because he didn't get the job doesn't give him the right to steal from the store especially in front of a highly feared store detective. His actions were irrational and hurt the store by costing them money. He was obviously not fit for the job in the first place since he thinks it's okay to steal

  5. Crawford's justification is unethical. He wasn't treated unfairly just wasn't the man for the job. He stole from someone because he didn't get the job. That also shows why they didn't hire him. He let his emotions take over.
