Prom

Cracked Mirror, a locally well known rock group, contracts to play for your high school prom. A week before the dance, the group cancels its appearance. A teacher finds out that the band took the opportunity to perform in a concert that will pay them $800 more. The class president's mother is an attorney and offers her services to the school.

If you sue the band for damages, what would be an appropriate amount and why?

  1. However much it was you were willing to pay them because they put you in a situation you didn't expect to be in. They should also pay for the new group that would perform at your prom.

  2. An appropriate amount of money to sue the band for is the amount that you had to pay the band. You would get all your money back after the case and your class wouldn't lose any money, but you would have to find another DJ in a reasonable amount that your class could afford.

  3. $800 because that is what they still made you pay and they didn't come and preform.

  4. An appropriate amount would be the $800 plus however much the attorney cost.

  5. The money you had paid because it was in a contract for them to play there and they backed out

  6. you would get as much as you were going to pay them plus a couple hundred for "emotional damages" because they promised you a service and then backed out at the last second leaving you with no plan and no prom.
